Merrell was formed when custom boot-maker Randy J. Merrell (R.J Merrell) joined forces with Clark Matis and John Schweizer, two executives for the Rossignol ski company. Their combined expertise was a match made in heaven, with outdoor product experience and practical knowledge and expert shoe design cementing the foundation of Merrell products to this very day. Merrell believes nothing should get in the way of enjoying active outdoor adventures. Merrell hiking boots, trail running shoes and apparel are built on Merrell’s outdoor heritage, quality and performance. The trail is the core of the design philosophy and continues to guide the guide the brand in the development of innovative products that inspire and enable enjoyment of the outdoors.
