Marking the formal nationalization in 1971, UAE observes December 2 every year as the National day for the country.
This is going to be a long weekend for everyone in UAE, as the government has declared leave from 1 to 6 December this year. Marking the start with the commemoration day on 1st Dec following 2 and 3 December to be the national days and 4 and 5 December as the weekend.
A bit about the history of UAE National Day
They raised the flag of the UAE over a hostel building which is recognized as the Union house. When all the seven emirates which drive up the United Arab Emirates now took place simultaneously. In December 1971, the rulers of the other six emirates, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Al-Ain, Sharjah, and Umm al-Quwain, joined to confirm the unification agreement. The last emirate that entered the association was Ras Al Khaimah, the latter-day.
This is the 49th national day of UAE, and it is a prestigious and most significant day of all. This also marks the last public holiday of UAE in 2020.
